4th International Day of Yoga - Report

Vasudeva Kriya Yoga proudly celebrated 4th International Day of Yoga inside the Victorian Parliament on 21st June 2018 for a 3rd year in a row. This was possible with the generous help from Mr. John Pesutto, MP, Shadow Attorney General.   Rajendraji presided over the event and delivered the message of "Healthcare over Medicare" and urged the government to include the practice of Yoga in the Healthcare plan. Mr. John Pesutto addressed the crowd and spoke about his personal yoga experiences. This was followed by a Yoga Session for almost an hour and everyone include Mr. Pesutto participated enthusiastically. Mr. Rampal Muthyala, Regional President of Liberal Party, Multi-Cultural affairs division, delivered the vote of thanks to conclude the event.

Vasudeva Kriya Yoga kicked off its annual celebration of International Day of Yoga as a public function on 10th June 2018 at Springer's Leisure Centre, Keysborough. Hundreds of Yoga practitioners pre-registered to the event and participated enthusiastically, despite the freezing cold day.

This eventful half day included the following activities.

• 108 Surya Namaskara
• Asana
• Pranayama
• Meditation
• Yoga Nidra
• Talks on various topics related Yoga, Health and Well being.

The day started at 7am with chanting of 15th Chapter of Bhagawat Gita by the students of Vasudeva Kriya Yoga. This was followed by kids performing Yoga on stage and it was a sight to behold. All the kids had worked hard and practiced the entire 2nd Term to be able to perform Yoga in front of the audience. We were honored to be in presence of our Yoga Guru's mother who distributed appreciation certificates to all the kids and blessed them. We would like to thank all the parents without whose encouragement and support, Kids Yoga couldn't have been possible. Then we proceeded to the one of the main events of doing 108 Surya Namaskara. All the participants did some warm up exercises, faced the east and welcomed the day with Sun Salutations under the able guidance of our Yoga Guru, Shri. Rajendraji. One by one, before we knew it, we had completed all 108 Surya Namaskara effortlessly. Many of the participants were in disbelief that had actually completed the Surya Yajna. Overall, the general feedback was positive and it was a refreshing start for the day.    Rajendraji then gave a key note speech about "Yoga for Health" and guided us through a Yoga Session consisting of Asana, Yoga Nidra, Pranayama and Medititation.     The chief guests of the day were, Mr. Rampal Muthyala, Local Community Leader and Mrs. Inga Peulich, MP, Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs.

• Mrs. Puelich has been a strong supporter of Vasudeva Kriya Yoga for quite some years and we were honored by her presence. In her speech, she called upon Yoga to help with Drug Abuse and other Mental Health issues. She also performed some Yoga under the guidance of Rajendraji.
• Mr. Rampal Muthyala is a member of the Liberal Party and is a local community leader. He is a very strong supporter for Vasudeva Kriya Yoga and his role has been instrumental in organising the International Day of Yoga in the Australian Parliament.

  We wrapped up the day with a Tratak session and a group photo. The entire event went smoothly as planned, thanks to hard work of all the volunteers. We would also like thank who helped us organising this event directly or indirectly.

Vasudeva Kriya Yoga celebrated International Day of Yoga in Sri Durga Mandir, Rockbank on 21st June 2018 for 3rd year in a row, in an effort to reach out to the Yoga Enthusiasts of western suburbs in Melbourne. People from nearby suburbs participated enthusiastically in the Yoga Session. Some temple goers also joined in to participate in the event.
