About Us

Vasudeva Kriya Yoga (VKY – ABN 37 837 419 442) is a non‑profit organisation founded in 2003 with a vision to uplift individuals through the timeless wisdom of yoga. With 20 branches across Melbourne, along with centres in the United States and Bangalore, VKY offers a sacred space for seekers to connect with the in‑dweller — the divine presence within that illuminates both our inner and outer journey.

Rooted in the belief that every individual carries inherent divinity, VKY guides practitioners toward realising this inner potential through conscious living — cultivating positive thought, speech, and action as a way of life.

In 2025, VKY established its own Yoga Centre in Melbourne. Purposefully designed to host multiple yoga and meditation sessions, the centre radiates spiritual energy, further elevated by the consecration of the Murthy of Lord Vasudeva. The Bangalore Centre has also been blessed with the consecrated Vasudeva Murthy, enriching the spiritual atmosphere for all who walk through its doors.

Guruji's Biography

Shri Rajendra Damodara Yenkannamoole, lovingly known as Guruji, is the founder of Vasudeva Kriya Yoga and has been a guiding force for the Melbourne community since the early 2000s. His teachings emphasise “Divinity in Yoga,” highlighting the deep and inseparable connection between spiritual awareness and yogic practice.

Each year, Guruji travels across India to conduct yoga sessions in monasteries and schools, nurturing both physical wellbeing and spiritual growth. He also leads dedicated students on transformative Himalayan journeys, helping them strengthen their inner connection and deepen their path of self‑discovery.

In December 2009, Guruji addressed the World Parliament of Religions, sharing the profound message of Yoga for Healing the Earth. Over the years, he has led numerous retreats and workshops for corporate groups and the wider public, inspiring thousands through his accessible and heartfelt approach to yoga.

Since 2008, under his leadership, Vasudeva Kriya Yoga has hosted an annual International Yoga Conference and, in 2023, conducted the International Yoga Day celebrations at the Federal Parliament of Australia in Canberra for the third time.

Guruji holds Master’s degrees in Engineering and Business Administration and was awarded a Doctorate by the Yoga University of the Americas in 2023 for his seminal work Arise, Awake and Realise. His dedicated service to the community has also been recognised with the prestigious Rama‑Krishna‑Vittala Anugraha Prashasti from the revered Pejawar Mutt monastery.

A prolific author and teacher, Guruji has written 12 books and shared over 2,000 YouTube videos, making his teachings accessible to seekers around the world.

Our Story & Philosophy

योगं शरणं गच्छामि  Yogam Sharanam Gacchami

Millions step into the world of yoga, yet only a few truly experience its transformative depth. What makes the difference is discipline, inner motivation, and a meaningful connection with a guiding teacher. At Vasudeva Kriya Yoga, we honour this sacred relationship and support every seeker on their journey toward self‑realisation.

Yoga is a complete and timeless science — one that strengthens the body, steadies the mind, and builds resilience in the face of life’s constant changes. It offers practical tools for everyone, regardless of age, background, or belief. Through regular practice, yoga helps us navigate life with clarity and purpose, empowering us to contribute positively to our families, communities, and the world around us.

At its heart, yoga is a path of connection. It reminds us that we are part of something larger — a family that extends beyond borders and identities. This is the essence of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: “The world is one family.” When we recognise this truth and connect with the pure, unchanging presence within, feelings of isolation dissolve, and a deeper sense of belonging naturally arises.

We invite you to step into the transformative portals of yoga — to awaken your unexplored potential, rediscover your inner strength, and embrace a renewed, radiant version of yourself.

Our Tradition

Our tradition is grounded in the wisdom of the ancient yogic scriptures, drawing inspiration from texts such as the Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Upanishads. These teachings guide our approach to movement, breath, and mindful living, reminding us that yoga is both a personal journey and a timeless philosophy.

We honour the lineage of practitioners who have carried these teachings forward, and we see our work as part of that continuum. Through our classes and community, we aim to nurture a practice that not only supports your well-being today but also plants seeds of awareness, compassion, and resilience for the next generation.
